British Friendly has extended its free will writing and Power of Attorney service to cover members' family.
The Legal for Life service allows partners, spouses, parents and children of its members to use the service too.
The service, provided by Epoq Legal, is part of British Friendly's discretionary Mutual Benefits programme, and can now be accessed to create multiple documents by both its members and their families.
It is part of British Friendly's drive to ensure that families and income protection policyholders receive as much cover as possible.
A recent survey, conducted by adviser firm Drewberry, revealed that almost two in three of its respondents do not have a will in place.
The society also announced this year that it made their discretionary immediate support payment pilot a permanent part of the claims process (subject to eligibility criteria).
Nick Telfer, product and marketing director at British Friendly, said: "Some adviser firms offer legal helplines to their clients and our Legal for Life service is designed to complement those extra benefits that adviser firms may offer.
"We want to ensure advisers' clients have as much protection in all the important areas of their life as possible, both for themselves and their families."
Damian O'Connor, managing director at Roxburgh Financial, said: "This all suggests there is a great need for easy and inexpensive access to wills so it’s great that British Friendly is offering this service for free.
"Likewise, Power of Attorney will only become more important as the UK population lives longer, so the more people who can legally protect themselves with this document, the better."
