Evelyn Partners has appointed David Rankin as managing partner of its Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices in a move that it said “confirms its commitment and growth ambitions in Scotland”.
Rankin joins the wealth manager with over 30 years’ experience in the sector, most recently having been senior wealth planning director at Investec’s Edinburgh office.
Over the last decade, Rankin has specialised in advising clients following the sale of a business and helping them grow and protect their wealth using family investment companies.
His appointment follows three other senior appointments in Evelyn’s Edinburgh team.
Neil Grant, Leanne Cassidy, and Lisa Mcleod all joined the firm as associate directors from Acumen Financial Planning, Schroders Personal Wealth and Redmayne Bently respectively.
Mcleod, who joins the investment management team, will split her team between the Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices.
Commenting on Rankin’s appointment, Evelyn regional managing partner Scotland & Northern Ireland, Paul Frame said he looks forward to working closely with him as they continue to grow the business in Scotland.
“David has extensive senior wealth management experience and knows the local market well which will be invaluable to the group," Frame said.
He added that the additional senior hires demonstrate the firm’s commitment to further expanding its presence, “meeting client demands, and following upon the acquisition of the CRM and MP2 financial planning businesses in the city last year.”
Evelyn’s roots in Scotland date back to 1881 and the firm now is one of the nation’s largest wealth managers, with over 400 staff based across Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Back in July, Evelyn purchased the client book of Glasgow-based adviser, Callan Anderson.
More recently, last September, it announced that it would relocate its Glasgow-based teams to a new development at 177 Bothwell Street.
