Quilter Investors has appointed Premier Miton as manager of two bond portfolios in a move which will see Lloyd Harris at the fund range’s helm once again.
Through the appointment, Premier Miton will become a ‘global partner’ of Quilter Investors, managing the Corporate Bond and Diversified Bond funds which are predominantly available through the group’s managed portfolios and multi-asset solutions.
Mr Harris, now-head of fixed income at Premier Miton, had previously been in charge of the funds while at Merian Global Investors.
He was let go from Merian during its takeover by Jupiter Asset Manager, but Premier Miton swooped in to hire him alongside his former Merian colleagues to bolster its fixed income department.
Quilter Investors reviewed Merian’s position as manager of the bond funds when Mr Harris left and decided to appoint Premier Miton, and Mr Harris again, after “extensive due diligence”.
Mr Harris said: “I am really pleased to once again be running these two mandates for Quilter Investors.
“Over the years we have built a strong working relationship with the Quilter Investors investment team and I am looking forward to working with them again.”
Mr Harris added that despite the relative calm of the past few months, uncertainty remained a “major feature” in the markets and that thoughtful portfolio management was key to generating good outcomes.
Stuart Clark, WealthSelect and Quilter Investors portfolio manager, said the group had always been impressed by Mr Harris’s portfolio management abilities.
He added: “We are delighted to welcome him back to manage two mandates and are also excited to work closely with Premier Miton, who have impressed us with their ambition and results to date.
“We have confidence in the team and in the infrastructure of the business to provide quality solutions to help with our portfolio construction.”
