Ethical Investing

In 2019 ethical investing took off

Looking ahead, many of the themes we explore in the fund are set to grow.

An example of this is the electric vehicle space, which may feel more like talk than action at this point.

In 2020 a raft of new electric vehicle product launches are expected.

The technology is getting cheaper, which makes electric vehicles accessible to a wider audience, the new product launches will fuel demand and purchases and an increase of electric vehicles on the road will in turn drive investment in infrastructure.

Supporting all of this is the regulation around emissions and the fast approaching bans in a number of markets to fossil fuel-powered passenger vehicles.

I have worked in sustainable investment for more than two decades now and in my opinion the investment case underpinning these markets (regulation, economics and consumer appetite) has never looked so compelling.

Regardless of how markets perform in 2020, the long-term case for sustainable investing is, well, sustainable.
