But Ms Mackay said the scandal around Woodford had spurred many platforms into action and there was no link to the latest development.
She said: "Hargreaves Lansdown has made some mistakes, but there are baying hounds out to get them and trying to make this [Lindsell Train removal] into a big deal.
"I don’t think there has been any impropriety, but in the current climate no one wants to take those kinds of risks, so they are going through funds and their holdings with a fine-tooth comb."
