BTL and renters hit hardest by mini-Budget fallout, MPs told

UK Finance director of mortgages, Charles Roe agreed that these figures were representative.

Roe told the committee UK Finance would work with other organisations to launch a communications campaign sign-posting people who are under pressure with their mortgage to support.

“This is very different to 2008. This time borrowers are on the front foot and are reaching out for support,” Roe said.

Elson said: "We are urging people to talk to their lenders".

But she added that it is often hard for people to reach out, so “reaching in” from lenders is “really important” too.
