Senior adviser focused staff to depart Jupiter and GAM

The long-serving heads of adviser sales at fund houses Jupiter and GAM are both due to exit, with both taking a break from the industry.

Mark Thomas has been head of UK sales at Jupiter Asset Management since 2019, having previously worked at River and Mercantile and Credit Suisse, each for 13 years.

In a statement to FT Adviser he said: “After 45 years in financial services, I have decided to step back from full-time employment to consider a new and different path.

"I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Jupiter and hope to leave a legacy for my successor to build on. I look forward to reading about the firm’s success in the future.”

A Jupiter representative said: “We can confirm that Mark Thomas, Head of UK, has decided to leave the firm at the end of the year.Mark has worked extremely hard to deliver on our strategic objectives over the last five years and leaves his team in a strong position.

"We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future. We have started a search to find his successor, considering both internal and external candidates.”

GAM also confirmed to FT Adviser that Rob Bailey, head of UK distribution, is stepping away from the firm and the industry.

He joined GAM in 2020 and previously worked at Axa Investment Managers and its predecessor companies from 2003 to 2020.

A representative of GAM said: "GAM is actively recruiting for his replacement, and Rob will stay on throughout this period to ensure an orderly transition for clients. We are very grateful to Rob for the time and commitment he has given to GAM.”

Several well known GAM fund managers have departed recently, including Adrian Gosden to Jupiter and Mark Hatwin, a technology focused investor, to Liontrust.
